Verbatim transcriptYeah, sure ok 6:59. I got to participate in the painting of the Wayfair
Center for the Arts mural. Oh yeah, we, um, the bank sent a team over. And we only got to paint for one hour, so they just the direction and then they tell you the colors and. Eat for an hour and then you re out and then the next group comes in. So that was really fun. Yeah, that sounds fun. This meeting shall come to order. Welcome to the Shoreview City Council meeting of Monday, AUGUST 17th, 2026. The first thing we do is ask you to join us for the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. Into the Republics and nation under GOD indivisible justice for all. And there are or should be some agendas at the back of the room. I m not sure if there were enough for, everyone, but. Um, so the meeting is called to order. We did the Pledge of Allegiance. The next item on the agenda is roll call and the record should show that all council members are present tonight.
The next item is, uh, approval of the agenda, so I ll look to council to see if they, uh, is anything that you d like to Remove or add amend on the agenda. A motion to approve. Second. Ok, we have a motion by council member Maryland with a second by Council member Springhorn to approve tonight s agenda. All in favor, please say aye. Aye, i ll oppose same sign motion passes and the agenda is approved. Uh, the next item is proclamations and recognitions, and we don t have any of those tonight, but I think that we have some public comments tonight, so, um, this is the part of the agenda where anybody can come up and speak on an item that is not on the agenda for tonight. Um, so, and we really don t have a business item. We do have other agenda items. So, um, you can come up and address the city council one by one, on any item.
That you d like, uh, that is not on the agenda and um the rules for a com uh public comment are that we d like you to give your name and address just for the record, and if there s for any follow-up, um, and then please limit your comments to 3 minutes so that everybody has time to speak. So, um, And then this, um, at public comments, the council does not take action or answer back on items tonight as they weren t, you know, obviously we re not prepared to talk to them, but if there are follow-up items that need to be addressed, um, somewhat from staff will get back to you. So when you come up, I just would ask that everybody comes up, speaks, gives your name, address, or name, address, speaks for 3 minutes, and then we won t be responding to each one tonight, but if there is follow up needed.
Um, staff will follow up with you so is everybody ok with that? I realize not everybody MAY have been at a council meeting before, so, ok, and you re welcome. I m glad you re here. So, there is no particular order. I leave that up to you, but please come on up. Welcome. Just right here. Yes, that s right. And that s because we actually stream these meetings and we record them so that people who aren t able or don t want to come to a meeting can watch them either live at home or they can watch them later. Thanks. I haven t been to a Shoreview City council meeting yet. Well, welcome. Thank you. All right, well, good evening, uh, mayor and members of the council. My name is Alyssa and I live in the Shamrock Park neighborhood up of County Rhode, 5554 Arona Street. Um, I m here, uh, as well as much, a lot of my neighbors this evening, uh, to talk with you about the proposed Hillview Industrial Business Park development in Arden Hills.
I m one of the neighbors who is actively informing and organizing our neighborhood of 565+ homes. We are doing this, uh, through raising families, working full-time jobs through our retirements. Not everyone from the neighborhood could make it this evening, but we have a really great turnout. Thank you all for being here tonight. So myself and other neighbors are here this evening to speak on behalf of our entire neighborhood and to support those who are not speaking tonight but are here to listen. I want to thank Assistant Community Development Director Nikki Hill, as well as any additional staff from the city who helped draft the city s response to the eaw and draft scoping decision document, the comments shared in the document reflect many of our concerns that we have in the neighborhood. I also want to thank Council member Doan and Council member Gardner for, uh, the many hours that they ve taken over the last couple of weeks to speak with me about our neighborhood s concerns.
For months, many members of our neighborhood have been speaking with agency staff and elected officials across multiple agencies to get more information about what s happening with this proposed development. Jake Riley, the Community Development Director at the City of Arden Hills has been very responsive to my concerns, and we have a good working relationship, and he s working hard to improve communications. While communications is getting better, the level of communications and coordination is not at the level of what it should be for a development of this magnitude. This development is not only going to impact our neighborhood, but it s going to impact county roads, parks, and state highways. This development is going to have regional impacts across multiple neighboring cities. We ve also discovered that key stakeholders, agency staff, and even some elected officials aren t aware or haven t been properly briefed, and many didn t know the sheer size and scope of this proposed development or key details, which is very alarming.
Last week, 60 of our neighbors signed a petition in just 3 days calling on our county commissioner, Ye Bing Singh, to convene a multi-agency neighborhood meeting for this proposed development so that residents can then get answers to their questions and share their concerns. She had shared with us that she s not the right person to convene this meeting, but is willing to share our current concerns with the right departments at the county. I m behind in my correspondence to her, and I will share a digital copy of the petition, uh, so she can pass our concerns, uh, along to those correct departments. I have a hard copy of the petition tonight that I would like to share with you all once I m done with my comments. While we appreciate what our, uh, commissioner is willing to do and pass along our comments, that s not enough. Our neighborhood still needs direct and transparent answers to our questions and concerns.
Because the site sits in Arden Hills, their officials hold all the decision-making power, as Shoreview residents, we have no vote or representation on their council, yet our neighborhood will bear the daily consequences. We elect you to work on our behalf of our values, interests and concerns, and now we need your help. We ask that you, the city council and city staff, organize an interagency neighborhood meeting for County Watershed environmental, transportation, city and elected officials into the same room with our neighborhood residents so we can get direct transparent answers. Thank you. Thank you.
Can just, yeah. And I, I do, for those that have feel kind of, um, I just want to explain for, for those of you that this is a, it s a business meeting of the city council and you re absolutely welcome to share your comments, but I, it, there is no interaction with the audience, and I just asked that, I mean, applause is fine, but, um, This is a business meeting, but so, but please welcome. My name is Michelle Long, and i live at 5014 Lexington North. So I m pretty close to this, although I m not in the neighborhood. I m very impressed with all of them. Um, I m also very impressed with. The comments that Nikki Hill wrote. I m a retired English professor. I, I would grade it an a plus. It was very good. I m also um a board member of the Saint Paul Bird Alliance, uh, an Audubon chapter, and the PRESIDENT Of that chapter is over here too, but Because there s so many people who MAY want to talk, I m going to stick with Just the lighting issue that is in your document, um, even though I recreate up there, dogs, meat, bikes, everything, but You probably all know that lights have a pretty serious impact on birds, particularly during migration, and migration really lasts far longer than people think it does, but it, it s not a good thing for birds at any time of the year.
They tend to go toward the lights and, and from You know, Niki s Beautiful document. It sounds like there are going to be a lot of lights involved in this development and. I think I will leave it at that and Someone else. Thank you. Good evening. My name is Anne Maslansky Takahashi. I live at 1570 Hillview Road. Obviously, Shamrock Park, Brad, I warned you. I m also your district one charter commissioner. In 2022, I had heard about the potential sale. That was facilitated by our
Representative on the federal level. And I wanted to be reassured that the corridor that is under Ramsey County Charter. Would stay park and rep and open space 2022. I got, we had a presentation. At the charter commission. Much to my surprise, when we got notice about Hillier development. I ve been stonewalled with the attorneys on the charter commission. And not wanting to have this on our agenda. There was an easement given in 2024. The only reason why that easement was given by Ramsey County was Hillview development would not be without road access. County Rhode I is not accounting road. Per se. It is where our children walk, ride their bikes. We have wildlife. We ve already seen accidents. We ve been threatened by cars coming through with traffic. And, and harassed by people, not wanting to go the speed limit. We ve been having electrical issues, which was confirmed to us by a member of the Arden Hills.
Council. And it s a known issue. I reached out to tcap because there seems to be some Um, question as to who owns. The property and they confirmed again it s Ramsey County Park and Rec. It was abated, so it could be a park and an open field. Met council. It s on their open plan. As open space, they retroactively got an easement. Don t know how. Don t know why, because there weren t any open meetings. As far as I know. I m very thankful to the Ramsey County Sheriff s Department because every year for the last 30 years. Every AUGUST, I have asked for traffic enforcement because it is so bad and it is so bad that we ve even had neighbors have their cars totaled, waiting for people to cross on County Rhode I. And thankfully, no one has died. They did do a study or last week and a half ago, 2 weeks now, they did on Race Creek Boulevard.
A traffic action. Not County Rhode I, which is where most of these people go. They made 300 stops in a week. They made 90 citations. This is a residential and a recreational area. There s a clear violation of our charter and the no net loss and no change of usage. We have electrical problems. I, when I called the public affairs office. And I, and I said, just as an antidote, um, as just kind of an offside. And I said, yeah, we re also having electrical problems because the ai burn testing facility. Uses so much energy, we get alerts and we re getting surges, and, he goes, that s interesting. We re having trouble with our meters and our remote sensing devices and our abatement equipment having surges. Maybe I ll just note where well past our 3 minute limit at this point. Ok, all right, thank you. Brad, for letting me talk a little bit longer.
Good evening to the council. I think you all know who I am. I ve been here before and I hope I ll be back maybe for other reasons than this, but, uh, for the record, my name is Tom Lemke. I live at 5577 Shooter Road, and we come before the council tonight. To ask for your help. We know that this development is not a shoreview development. It s a development within Arden Hills. But we ask for your help and we ask for your help and that one of the things that I ve always believed is that our city council should be there to work with the citizens to make our community a better community and keep it a strong community. And Um, right now, we feel very assaulted up in our little community or our little section of, of Shoreview up there. We ve got a very nice quiet community that we all, a lot of us know each other quite, quite well, and uh we wanted to, to continue that way.
My concern is that I ve been in the city of Shoreview for 40 years. I have volunteered a lot within the city of Sherview. I think part of what the city council needs to do also is keep up our home values. I m at a stage in my life where I m looking to, you know, maybe move on to the next living accommodations. So after my retirement, and I have a lot of concern as to what is going to happen to the value of my house. I ve worked hard. I ve kept my house up. I ve made improvements on it with the hopes that I would, you know, be able to sell it at some point and get a, you know, halfway decent. Value, so I can move on to my next, you know, living accommodation. And right now I just don t feel like I m, you know, gonna get that value because of, you know, what is occurring in, in our neighborhood.
I d like to ask all of you, if all of a sudden, you know, down the street. Just across the street that, um, somebody said they were going to do a million square feet of building with 100 traffic with 100 trucks a day and up to 11,200 cars a day. Do you think that would help your property value or hurt your property value. And would you not be fighting for, you know, to, to take care of that and, and, you know, stop that in the process so I ask that you know you just work with us, um, Alyssa has commented that we need, you know, a multi-agency. We need people to sit down, all the stakeholders from Ramsey County Park and Rec to, um, public works to, you know, other cities. Most of the other cities surrounding us do not know what is going on and they are also going to be impacted, especially how our uh mounds view in our county road I corridor, so we asked the city we ve not had any luck in asking Arden Hills to convene this, you know, um, group, we ve not gotten very far with our county commissioner.
So we re asking for help from Shoreview to take and put this group together and let Everybody here what our concerns, opinions, and maybe even, uh, they ll come up with a better solution or figure out a way to make this more palatable to our community and neighborhood. Thank you. Hello. Good evening. Mayor and city council members. My name is Shayna Kristen and I live at 5793 Fairview Avenue here in Shoreview, um, first, thank you to the city council members who have taken the time to listen to residents about the proposed Sylview Business Park. I m here because this is my home, this is happening where I live. Um, and this is where my husband and I have chosen to raise our family. This is where my girls are growing up. They ride their bikes through the neighborhood, they play outside, we walk these streets, the pass. And we know and love our neighbors, and we choose to live here because it feels like community.
Over the last several weeks, I ve spent a lot of time talking to neighbors, attending meetings, reading documents, making signs, and trying to understand what is being proposed in our neighborhood. And the more I ve learned, the more concerned I ve become. When people hear business park, they might picture some building in the distance. But when you re one of the families living next to it, you think about something very different. You think about trucks and traffic, you think about your children walking and riding their bikes, you think about noise, pollution, and lights at night. You think about Rice Creek, the wetlands, and the wildlife and the open spaces currently there, and you wonder what this neighborhood, the place where you re raising your children is going to look like and feel like in 10 to 20 years from now. What is especially frustrating is feeling like something this significant could be happening right next to us while the people who, who will live with the consequences are struggling just to figure out what s happening and whether our voices actually matter.
I understand this property is in Arden Hills. But the impacts will not stop at the city boundary. That s why I m asking you as Charville elected leaders to take 3 specific actions. For the residents you represent. First bring everyone to the table. Please formally request a joint public meeting with Shoreview, Arden Hills, Ramsey County, and the Rice Creek Rice Creek watershed District and other relevant agencies. And most importantly, the residents. Will be affected. Let us hear from the decision makers in the same room and get answers to the questions that remain unanswered. Second. Keep us informed. Please create a transparent process for Shoreview residents can easily find updated plan traffic studies, environmental information, meeting dates, deadlines, and upcoming decisions. And communicate important information directly to the neighborhoods most affected. Residents shouldn t have to become investigators, just to understand what is happening next, next door to their homes. And third, advocate for us. Please formally communicate Shoreview s concerns to Arden Hills and push for the impacts on Shoreview to be fully considered include our roads, or our children, our neighborhoods, race Creek, Rice Creek wetlands, wildlife and natural areas.
And the scale and intensity of, and if the scale and intensity of this development cannot adequately protect the surrounding residential community, then please advocate for changes, reductions, or a better alternative. Because once nearly a million square feet of industrial development is built, we cannot undo it. I don t expect Shorevie to control every decision Arden Hills makes. But I do expect my city to stand up for the people who live here. These are hundreds of families in these neighborhoods, 565 homes to be exact. We re not asking to be difficult. We re asking to be included, informed and protected, so please be our voice when we are not able to be heard. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah. Others, feel free to come on up. There
S I m sorry, I m just pulling up my. Ok. Document. Ok. Good evening, Mayor and members of the council. I m sorry, that was my woo earlier. I just got so excited at all the people that were here, so I m so sorry about that, but that s ok. My name is Katie Christensen and I live at 1739 Hillview Road in the Shamrock Park neighborhood. I m here tonight with my neighbors because our families deserve a guarantee of accountability regarding the Hillview Business Park proposal. We are experiencing the real-time impacts of climate change through extreme droughts, extended wildfire seasons, and record breaking heat waves. At times, it feels like there s nothing that an individual can do. But, right down the street, Rice Creek Commons development has earned pre-certification for the highest global standard for eco-friendly design. That is something to be excited about. We want to ensure that our side of the border receives that same proactive care.
A high emission diesel truck hub proposed directly adjacent to this sustainable community creates a major contradiction. We are fully aware under the Minnesota law that the state environmental Quality Board holds the final authority over this environmental review. But the state relies entirely on the integrity of local local data and Arden Hills is failing to provide it. This as Shoreview City staff pointed out in their response comments to the scoping document, Arnhills is explicitly refusing to evaluate any scaled down design alternatives. They decided, before a single study was done, that maximizing a massive industrial footprint was the only option. In doing so, Arden Hills is violating its own 2030 and 2040 comprehensive plans, which legally designate this area as Park Preserve. By their own laws, this land was drawn up to be a permanent protective natural buffer for our single family homes. And instead, on AUGUST 10th they voted unanimously to grant a special variance allowing the developer to begin heavy demolition on the site before the ieis is even finished.
As working families, we have already put in an extensive amount of work to protect our community by organizing the neighborhood, speaking with officials, contacting the involved agencies directly. But we look to our city leaders to handle the complex technical coordination that only you can do. Because this development impacts Shoreview directly, we are counting on our city s guidance and institutional support to carry this effort forward. Tonight we ask that this council Continue advocating strongly for your constituents. We re not anti-development, but we are asking our elected elected officials to stand firmly in front of us to protect our community s health. Safety and peace of mind. Please take the strong technical points that your city staff has already documented and formally petition the Environmental Quality Board. Asking for a comprehensive cross-border review that preserves our neighborhood and quality of life. Thank you. Thank you. See Welcome. Hi, thanks. Um, I ve
Never spoken at something like this before, but I m very glad to have the opportunity. My husband and I have been in Shoreview for about 6 years. Oh, my name is Edith Bajama. My husband Phil, we live at 5541 Fairview Avenue North. Which if you are coming up County Rhode I and you turn on to Fairview. Which is Right where the big Trucks will be going in. Uh, to that development, um, we are the 2nd house from the corner. So, um, boy, I really feel strongly. Sorry. I feel strongly about this, um. Sorry, this has nothing to do with yeah, take your time, um. So, um, I understand that County road I was basically for a long time, a, a dirt road that went there and then they, they just laid asphalt over it. It s not meant to withstand high, heavy traffic. And that s a real concern of mine, um. We actually built a fence, um, just to protect our ourselves from all of the traffic that Come now, but to have semi trucks, 100 of them a day, possibly coming down uh right, uh, past our house and, and heading into that beautiful field area, um, just.
Makes us feel like um. We ve kind of been shafted. And um we would consider moving if, if it, if this went through because it just, it just feels like such an invasion of our home. I know I m not talking technically I m talking emotionally right now about how, how we feel, um. I am so glad that there is a body of people like you who are able to um to communicate with uh Arden Hills because I feel like we, even though there s quite a few here, we don t have. The official. Um, aura that you would have and when you communicate with them, um, about our concerns and I know you ve heard everything we ve said tonight, and I really appreciate that. Um, there are other environmental concerns that I have, um, I use those fields every day, um, to walk, to run, um, uh, there are so many wild animals in there, um, so many, there s several protected species that live there, um, but those are not necessarily your concerns.
I think you are dealing more with the traffic issues and, um, I would appreciate it if you would push for a, um, a property evaluation. That would go from shoulda all the way down to, um. Where was that? Um, To the end there, um. Starting at should it and go all the way to Noel and from County Ida Sherwood, um, a separate property values analysis that would analyze what s going to happen to our property values if they. We ve made significant um improvements to our home, um, and we would hate to see that loss too. Um, Thanks for listening and really we just.
We want you to help. Thank you. Hello, my name is Ron Markham. I live about 5628 Albine Street. Um, First of all, I wanna say Thank you to I know there s some of the faces I ve seen at the last meeting at Arden Hills. I do want to thank you guys for being there and supporting us that night. I believe there is a lot of concern on your part also I know there s questions you guys have. What I hope you can do is help this group right here. Either with the county, um, when I asked the a question. The guy had the guy the the developer gentleman had said. That he worked with Ramsey County. For building that road. And they could access their park. Off his Road. He admitted that he already had been working with Ramsey County. When I asked him if he had worked with Ramsey County about developing County Rhode I to make it safer.
Or to make it easier for us to access County Rhode I. His comment was, why would I want to do that? All he wants to do is get his role to County Rhode I, and he has no concerns about us. And what we have to deal with trying to get out of our neighborhood. What I hope from you guys are. Maybe you have some leverage with Ramsey County. Maybe Somehow, some way we can get some questions to Ramsey County, whether they have Plans in the future to redevelop County Rhode I. Or to do something to make County Rhode Is. Um a lot better or safer. In the spring, it gets really rough the road kind of twists and gets bad when the frost comes out. Um, We start putting that many vehicles on there. It s just gonna get worse, and I m not sure that Ramsey County. Realizes the upkeep that s gonna have to take to maintain that road once this starts happening.
So, I thank you all. Thank you. Thank you. Good evening and thank you for having us. And thank you for listening to our comments. My name is Mary and I live at 1599 County Road, West in Shoreview. So I just want to say I ve lived in that area. I ve lived in that home for 23 years, and when I first moved in, the traffic was bad, but now it s worse and worse and worse, and you can imagine my surprise
When I discovered that there was a warehouse or 5 warehouses that MAY be going up across the street from me, even though it s 1500 ft from County Rhode I. The surprise I had to discover that this was going in and what that would do to my property value, what would that do to my quality of life, my neighbor s quality of life and in dealing with the traffic noise, um, the increase in big trucks that are coming in and out, that makes a lot of noise, and then all of the um lights that would be going in possibly when you have 1200 parking spots that are allotted around this proposed process. Project. I just want to let you know that we have a lot of concerns. You can see the turnout tonight. This is only the beginning because we re really standing together because we feel the need to stand up for ourselves because nobody else is, and we re asking you to help us to be our great city council and be our advocates in this process and to provide education to be there for questions and to ask some of the tough questions of the city of Arden Hills. On our behalf. Thank you so much. Thank you. Feel free to. Hello, my name is
Roger Schmatz, 1718 Oakwood Drive, um, this whole issue has been before us. A long period of time. To what everyone said tonight, great kudos. It s a wonderful thing. This being a lot of Arden Hills responsibility. Exiting onto Coy Rhode I. If we could eliminate that option when they have the perfect option of going to h2, there s a roundabout there, there s entrance and exit to 35w is heavy traffic, doesn t need to enter our neighborhood. It doesn t have to reflect on us, on our citizens, on our children, our entire neighborhood up here and And in Shoreview. Um, I would just ask your help. To work with Arden Hills to use that property going that direction to from Arden Hills onto 35 wh where all this equipment is going to end up anyways. It doesn t need to be on County Rhode Island. That s my, my concern. Thank you. Thank you. I am Heather. I live on Shuda Road, um, this is um, however, my husband and I became aware of this in JULY 13th. There was a meeting, I think in Arden Hills JULY 15th, and he couldn t go because he
Was bringing me to the airport anyway. What bothered us was that we had never heard about. Any of this until then, and it was the neighborhood that Shared the information. Um, What I was curious, I have a few questions. County Road I is owned by Shoreview or Arden Hill, who maintains that road? The county does. County, so. Yes, yes, Ramsey County when they upkeep when they upkeep the road when they upkeep when they upkeep the road, is it Shoreview that gets The taxes or is it coming from? County road I pays for that maintenance of the road and the schedules of when they update it, for example, they, when we have to have that road. Repaved because we have all those vehicles coming through. Do we report to you or do we complain to Ramsey County when that happens. If the, if the If, if the maintenance takes place, you mean, or for the cost of the maintenance that, that s under the county, the county pays for that, so things wear and tear on a road.
The Ramsey County has to get taxes from that. And usually if I m aware, It s usually the neighborhood, right, that gets some of that tax. For for the budget, taxes for the budget to replace that road. And financially, I would like to know. How that would increase my taxes for repair of that road, I know, quote, it will go through the whole county, but does it really? Are we gonna be responsible for the upkeep of that, our taxes for that. Well, I think property taxes in general can I just wanna, I, I really respect everybody coming today, yeah, but I just want to respect the process that we have for community comments and that it s not a back and forth q&a, and so I d ask that Heather send her questions, uh, to staff and then staff can answer them directly, um, because I think that that s, that s, that s what community.
Uh, this community time he raised a good point, which is, you know, if you really do want it, if you want to make a statement, for example, I don t, I m, I don t want to feel like it s my responsibility to pay for the road. He, he raised a good point because it s not a q&a. But if you did want a that buys that land. Thanks could easily. Uh, cover expenses and how they would. Expense the fees or cover the fees for that road maintenance from that company that s bought and going to Develop that land. I think it would be reasonable that they Show us how they will keep that road maintained and that. It won t affect us as much with our taxes because we already pay high property taxes and for me it s a budget thing if we re gonna have to have then increased property taxes to help fix more roads because of all of that traffic. That s a lot. And I don t think there should be. Questions to the company and Arden Hills, how they will help out Shoreview. Budget property. But. For those. For the road and the upkeep. So,
Alright. Thank you. Others I know it s hard to know when to come up because you can t see everybody in the room. My name is Jessica Fernandez and I live at 1705 Terrace Drive, and I m here on behalf of myself and of all my wonderful neighbors, um. And I ve heard a lot of talk about, um, you know, wildlife and, and the impact on the traffic in my specific concern, and I know a lot of my neighbors are concerned about this as well. A lot of us have children who are of the age going to Pinewood. Edgewood and Irondale. Our children use County Road I to access those schools. And I personally have had my vehicle totaled at that crosswalk, and I know that, you know. An increase in traffic is going to increase the chances of my children and my neighbor s children being hit right riding their bikes. As soon as kids are in middle school and high school, they re involved in.
Summer sports, um, at Edgewood and at Irondale, and they, if they don t have a parent that can get them to and from then they are riding their bikes to Edgewood and Irondale, you know, they, yeah, they have to cross highway county attend and things like that, but there are lights that they can go to, you know, and press a button and cross safely, but my worry is for the children in this neighborhood. That are of my, son s age, 14, he can t drive a car, so he has to ride his bike if we can t get him to his sports, um, in the summer, and I know a lot of my neighbors have children my age, my son s age and younger or a little bit older who don t have access to a vehicle. And so I really ask you to advocate on behalf of us and our children. And their safety To really put pressure on this company.
And the city of Arden Hills, so that we don t have to worry about our children riding their bikes. Go to sports games. I know, I m sorry. That s ok. You and I talked about this at following the Arden Hills meeting for quite a while. I remember that with a couple of other people. I remember you talking about your son riding his bike to Edgewood. So And I know a lot of my neighbors have children his age, a little bit younger, a little bit older, who don t have access to a vehicle and maybe there were, you know, a lot of this is a working communi community we don t necessarily are we re not necessarily able to get our children to and from those activities in the summer. So I just ask you to please advocate for us and our children to either. You know, kind of put a kibosh on it or to scale it down into And if it s going to happen to put pressure on Ramsey County to make County Rhode I safer for our children and our community.
Thank you, Hi, my name is, um, Karen Langenfeld, and I live at 1615 County Road, I. West, um, I live, uh, right next door to Mary who already spoke, um. And I just want to add a little bit of history to the issue with our children getting to school, and John and I had a really good, um, conversation. I don t know, it might have been a couple of years ago now, um, about the Shamrock Park neighborhood and how landlocked we are, um, It s, we rely completely on County Rhoda to get in and out, to get to work, to get to school. When my children started taking the bus. To school in 19. Uh, no, I don t know. 99 99 2000 when my children started taking the bus. Long time ago. The, the first time the bus stopped at our house. It was across the street in County, Rhode Island, and I said, hell no.
I said, hell no. Am I gonna let my child cross County Rhode I to get on the bus across the street. So I called the school district, and what they did instead was they had the bus turn the corner onto onto, um, Onto Snelling Avenue and pick them up there. Now, we re right in the middle of the block, and I, I know there s only like a few houses, but you know, I m hoping that a nice family with kids is going to buy my home. Um, But my kids had to And, and, and when they started going to school, my neighbor, Mike was plowing the snow behind our houses so that they could walk to the bus stop, right? So all the kids on our block had a, had a safe way to get to safe way to get to their bus stop. And somebody, I don t know if it s the city or the park, uh, sent him a cease and desist letter because he was doing it on Parkland on Shamrock in Shamrock Park.
And so the only way my kids could get to school was to walk in the road, which wasn t safe. It wasn t safe, you know all those years ago, um, or to walk they walked through Mary s yard. I got to know Mary s dogs, um, but if it weren t for the grace of neighbors. My kids would not have had a, a, a safe way to get to school. And if there was too much snow, I would drive them a block and a half just around the corner, so they could get safely to their bus stop, or I would just take them to school. Um, And I don t know, uh, you know, I don t know about the younger kids, but when, um, the, the, the kids now, but we had to pay a fee. Because we were within walking distance of Pinewood because it was less than 3 miles. They were considered walkers.
And so we had to pay a fee to get that bus. And so I, I just want to leave that to you as well, that is also an issue for your citizens of Shoreview that it has never been a great or safe way to get to school, um, from our neighborhood and now it s going to be, um, deadly, and I, m just. You know, uh, it s just gone from bad to worse to nightmare, and that s when I m seeing coming up, so thank you. Anyone else like to come up? Um, Alex, resident of Shoreview. I m here to support against this community, um, development, but i m also here for another reason, um, Ramsey
County Sheriff Bob Fletcher has implemented a flock license plate reading cameras in Shoreview and throughout uh the county, and I m asking them, uh, for sure, you just stand up and get those removed. These cameras can create um, searchable records of movements of ordinary people who have done nothing wrong. Where we work, worship, seek health care, family visits, shop, and attend public meetings. That is a serious threat to constitutional privacy rights. The sheriff s is to uphold the United States and Minnesota Constitution not to normalize warrantless mass surveillance of county residents. These risks are not theoretical, in Georgia Public records raised concerns about Flock employees access to private cameras. Uh, the feeds for community centers, including use of areas of the fitness, swimming, and children gymnastics, o over 1000 times these employees did this. Um, also, they have in investigations involving officers accused of this misleading, misusing flock research systems for personal use, and all of us know here that, uh, in Minnesota with the murders of George Floyd and the ic murders that You know, Uh Those officers can t fully be trusted at all times, just like normal people.
Um, Minnesota communities are already acting. Columbia Heights has ended its flock. Uh, camera. Brooklyn Park has ended. Shorewood is an investigation and Champlain, I believe, and also Fridley is right now in a big uproar about Being surveillanced by our government, which I don t think anybody here has asked for. Um, So I m just asking that, uh, Shoreview work together to get these out of our community. Also the biggest, uh, backer of Flock cameras is Peter Thiel. He has over 22,500 emails with Jeffrey Epstein, so I doubt he s a very good person. Thank you. Thank you. Would anyone
Else like to come up? You know, there s always a first time, but you know I m not a speaker, but I came to listen. I mean, I ve lived in. The um Jan Siban s 5558 Arona Street. And, um, my husband and I built our house there at 41 years ago. We re in the area that was developed. A little bit later, and I just wanted to say one of the reasons 41 years we did not, that was our starter home. We have stayed in Shoreview because of Shoreview. And sometimes we have left, felt a little bit. Left out were in an area, but we like that too, because sometimes we were left alone. Um, But as you can see, This neighborhood is fantastic, and that s why we stay. People have moved out. People have moved in. They help each other. We have been through. I m older, my husband is older. This community.
Up there in that area that is. Only two ways out. We have been flooded in when we first moved there. We almost couldn t get out. And that was back in 1984, but this area is there for us all the time. And it makes me very sad to see things that are going on that we didn t know about. And that We Can t do anything. She felt like we can t do anything about it. And luckily we sat and watched that development for years being cleaned up. Everything going on. But please, if you can help us, we love Shoreview. That s why we re there. That s why we re still there. And I don t want to leave Shoreview. I love it. And you. It s been a wonderful place for us to live, raised our kids. We even went through thinking we re going to Turtle Lake, and we went to Pinewood.
And we had to You might want to come a little closer to the mic. I m sorry too, and I, I understand what people are saying, um, It hasn t always been easy up there. If you can hear us. We appreciate it.
Thank you. Thank you. Anyone else? Welcome. Hello, hello, this city council thing. Um, so thank you for taking the time to hear us. My name is James Gabrielson. I live at 1704 Oakwood, um, and it s, uh, kind of nice for me to be able to look out and see a lot of my neighbors. I ve been here for, you know, all of 5 years. I think it ll be 5 years in 2 weeks, um, and I ve been very, grateful for the time that my wife and I have been able to live here and the peacefulness and the joy of having the trails to run on or the, you know, Shamrock Park to be at and. It s been a very, very wonderful experience, and I am, you know. I ll fully admit I Only really knew of any of the Hillview, uh, development through the work of my neighbors because somebody took the time to make calls, do a lot of information searching, send emails, and then compile all that to put it in a sheet of paper to hang on my door.
And I will, I m very, very grateful for, you know, the work of all those people who ve taken their time to do that. And at the same time, um, I understand that there is only so much that we, um, as citizens and as neighbors can legitimately do. Um, and so whether that s through the process of analyzing, understanding how our infrastructure can or cannot support something like this business development, whether that s by calling for, you know, a meeting with more affected parties so that we can truly hear what the actual plan is or what the actual designs are for this development that will impact us a significant degree, um, Those are things that we rely on. Each and every one of you. To even if you re not able to fully When the day or whatever the phrase is, um, if you are able and willing to stand up and represent us in that way.
That is something that we will be forever grateful for. Thank you, thank you. Ok. Hi, good evening. My name is John Jackson. I live at 5600 Aldean Street, um. Congrats on the brandy firehouse. That s great, um, a new park in uh Shamrock Park right behind my house there. It s great being able to open the fence and let the little ones run, you know, um. I suck in a lot of what our residents have to say, so I don t want that dead horse, but there s also been a lot of points of contention, I think, working through even the jpa with the fire department with Arden Hills. Arden Hills projects become everybody else s problems. Please help us smooth this out. Find a way to transfer. Communicate, be transparent the best you can. I know it s, it s tough, and I know you guys get walled up quite a bit, but please, please support us.
We really are asking for this. It s a great tight-knit community. I ve only lived there for 7 years, and I ve got some amazing neighbors and I just met a whole bunch more. So please, please, we re asking for your help on this. Thank you. Thank you. Um, good evening to the council. My my name is Amber Brookman. I live on 5790 Fairview Avenue. Um, so I did speak, um, at the last one a couple of weeks ago, um, and I agree with all of my
Neighbors, um, on everything that they ve said tonight. I wanted to share a little bit more about how tight knit this community is, I actually recognize a lot of people in this room from when my cat went missing last year. And I sent postcards to everyone in the neighborhood, so I am well aware that there s over 500 houses in the neighborhood because the postage got expensive, um, but everybody came together. I mean, everybody from every different walk of life, um, came together to help me, um, try and find this cat, um, who spoiler alert. Died from a coyote, so, so I also have major concerns about the coyote population, um, in this area, infiltrating our neighborhood because it already sort of has. Um, For anybody that MAY not remember because it was a long time ago, this neighborhood was built in the early 50s, I think mid 50s, um, but in the 60s, our neighbor, um, Barb Iverson was kidnapped and murdered, um, and it was this community, these neighborhoods.
This neighborhood that came together and put together the search party for when she went missing, and I mean they combed. The farmland, they combed this area, the tcap site. It was these neighborhoods, these neighbors that came together and it was. This case that ended up, um, leading to light in our neighborhood like we didn t have street lights in our neighborhood at this time, so people were searching in the dark, um, and that s how our neighborhood. Got street lights, um, in the early 2000s, um, the farmland behind us, um, they were going to build a golf course and this neighborhood came together again, um, and now this where this golf course was going to be is this beautiful, beautiful, um, park that we know and love, and now we have an entrance to it, um. In that area. Um um. I bring that all up to say, um. These neighborhoods, we are all hardworking.
We do not have the same hours in a day, um, and yet we re all coming together, um, banding together, uh. Like crowdfunding information, uh, looking into, um, putting website together, um. Lobbying in the neighborhood. Everybody is doing this on time that we do not have, um, and we would really like to have a representative, um. That can kind of ease some of that for us and again, like somebody said, um, you guys definitely have, uh, a more like official aura, um, that can help us get
Our needs, um, met. Um, I also, am. Concerned like everybody else about um the traffic and how that involves our children. Obviously, we are very protective of our children, um, but like somebody said, I have a child in the school district and the school district, there is still a rule. We live within 2 miles. So if we want to have bussing, we have to pay for it, and that is yearly, we have to pay for that. Um, we do not get public school bussing. That s something, you know, so our kids. Are You know, pressured to travel to school to get to Pinewood, Edgewood, and the high school, and all of that is through County Road I. Mary, I ll just I ll put well over the 3 minute point at this point. Ok, um, anyways, thank you very much for your time. Thank you. Oh good Hello. My name is Phil Herzog. I live on 55 Shooter Road, 5595 Shooter Road, sorry. And my first time too, but I wanted to comment a little bit more on what the gentleman uh brought up as far as the flu cameras. Um, I, uh, I went to the Peace Corps back in the day, ended up marrying a Guinean lady. And uh we raised
Our kids up there. Uh, having bought the house in 2000. Um, And they are Uh, obviously African American, you know. So the flat cameras being able to peer in there in the car. Obviously with what s gone on in the past in the recent past, here in these few months brings concerns to my mind about tracking. And um profiling. So, it that s all I have to say. Um, I otherwise agree with uh what many other people have brought in the neighborhood, uh, kid has passed, but, um. Anyway, I just wanted to thank everybody for being such good neighbors all these years, and I really have enjoyed Shoreview very much. Uh, thank you all for your work. Thank you. Is there anybody else that would like to come up and speak? Even if it s your first time. Hello. Hi, my name is Lindsay, and I live on 1531 Oakwood Terrace, um, as of next week, we will have been proud members of Shoreview for 3 months.
Um, this is now my 2nd city council meeting I ve ever been to. My first one was last week in Arden Hills. We moved into the Shamrock Park neighborhood. Um, one of the reasons we moved in there was because we looked at the neighbor at the houses around us, and we looked at the sales data, and there were so many houses with no sales data. Because the neighbors have lived there for that long. It is a place where people had moved in and stayed. And we said, that s the place for us. And we ve moved in with our 5 and 7 year old kids. And It s felt like home. It immediately has been welcoming to us. We ve, uh, my husband and I have joked that. We moved back to the 90s because that s how the neighborhood feels. It reminds me of the neighborhood I grew up in, in the 90s and like the kids playing like.
Four square in the street, the neighbors were like, Do you want to play four square? And we saw them drawing out the chalk in the street and we went, we, we moved from County Road b in Roseville. It was very busy there. And we are not used to the peace and quiet, but it is wonderful, and we have met so many of our neighbors, and they have all been so welcoming and so kind, and I don t want to move again. When I moved here, I said, this is it. This is my place, and I don t want to move again. And I. Appreciate all of you being here tonight and I am so grateful that we do have the opportunity to speak and be represented and I just. Ask that you listen to us and help us so that I don t have to move again because I really like it here. Thank you, thank you.
Would anyone else like to speak? Ok. Well, thanks to everybody. Well, first of all, thanks for coming out. I think it really demonstrates your commitment, um. And, uh, I understand the power of neighborhoods. I have a great one myself. I think our city has a lot of them, but I do appreciate those of you who hadn t spoken at a council meeting before come for coming and speaking, um, and sharing your thoughts. I know I ve made notes and so has um Brad as well so. I believe we, we support you in, in, in any way we can, um, we part of this is unfolding the process, but I do meeting we re early in the process here, but I think we, um, you have seen what Shoreview has provided to Arden Hills in terms of the environmental statement so far. Um, so we continue to track this and um we ll continue to talk with you.
I know MR. Lamke s been up to see me a couple of times and uh keeps me apprised, so that s very helpful as well, but thank you all for coming and um sharing your thoughts with us. Thank you. Ok. Um, and with that, oh, ok. We ll give you a couple of minutes to, to, uh, exit out
Before. Yeah. Oh. Yes. Merritt, are we at council comments? Let s give him a couple related to this for council comments. Yeah, ok. Yeah. Oh my GOD. Oh. This. Thank you, buddy. Yeah, it s, I think that let him exit out. Yeah You are welcome to stay for the rest of the meeting if you want. I don t know if you ll find it interesting, but you re always
Welcome, always. I All right. It s a pub crawl after. All right. Well, I think at this point, we ll We ll move to. Uh, council comments. All right. COUNCILMAN Bone, if you d like to start, feel free. Uh, thank you, Mayor, and a big thanks to all the neighbors in the Shamrock Park. I did want to share an announcement that I have, uh, that I received from. Um, Ramsey County, which is that there is an open house of in-person and a virtual open house on this Wednesday, AUGUST 19th, uh, for Rice Creek Boulevard as part of the Rice Creek Commons, uh, development and uh highly encourage those who are interested to attend that and ask questions about what that road network that is being proposed by Ramsey County for the Rice Creek development. Uh, entails and how it could potentially relate to uh the current uh concerns that the neighbors have for the Hillview development.
This is the spine road, right? This is the spine road that goes through the development proper, yeah, ok. So I just wanted to make sure that folks are aware that there is an opportunity for, uh, public comment at an in-person open house on AUGUST 19th from 5 to 7 P. M. And then there ll also be a virtual. Uh, open house, uh. From noon to 1:00 P. M. On Wednesday, AUGUST twenty-sixth. Um, I think that s an opportunity to again, uh, share concerns that, uh, folks, uh, in Shoreview MAY have with regard to development that s occurring with regard to a spine road in the Rice Creek Commons development, right, because it s not necessarily related to the Hillview development. Uh, it isn t, but I, from what I m hearing from uh Ed Mayor that don t mean to, uh, to go back and forth here, but just to, from what I m hearing, there is Uh Ques there are questions from the community about connecting to County Road h.
And to that spine, potentially to the spine road that is a part of Rice Creek Commons that hasn t been built yet as a part of connecting to the hill view, uh, development instead of connecting to the north to I, and so I m not sure where that stands and how that was this, you know, uh, what. The work that was done that led to the current Spine Road development, uh, that is in close to final development or final design, so that s, uh, just wanted to share that, that that MAY be an opportunity to Uh, to share one s opinion. COUNCILMAN Don, if somebody wanted to find out more information on that? Where would they find it? Um, it is. Thank you Council member Maryland, uh, It is Let me find the website here. Rice Creek.
Commons, let me. I will have to share it with staff because I m not sure exactly it says Ramsey County. Gov here, but I can t see it the full. Link on my website here, let me, I ll have to share it to myself via a text and see what it says. Right, but in any case, um, it is www. Ramseycountymn. Gov/ yourgovernment/project initiative economic development initiative slash Rice Creek Commons and a bunch of other symbols, but I ll pass it along to staff and uh we ll uh get that hopefully shared, uh. Out, uh. With whatever channels we have. COUNCILMAN Bone, do you know where the open house is at? Oh yes, it is. Thank you, uh, Council member Maryland, it is at the Ramsey County Public Works facility in Arden Hills off of Highway 96. Thank you. for for asking those clarifying questions. I, Mayor, I also had, uh, two other comments, um.
Uh, for my, uh, time. The first is that I was really, uh, delighted to be a part of the um. Tunnel mural project painting event that occurred last Thursday that was hosted by Gallery 96 as well as the Shoreview Bike and Trails Committee, um, and that project, uh, is being funded by the Shoreview Community Foundation and Rice Creek Watershed District, and I think we might have a little ladybug that is a piece of artwork that um the council will be contributing to the overall mural which for those um who uh didn t catch it at our last council meeting, we approved. A mural in the tunnel that goes under Highway 96, uh, right outside, uh, the community center here which will be 9 ft tall on both sides and run the full length of the tunnel, which I believe is over 50 ft long. Um, so it is quite, uh, gonna be a quite a piece of, uh, of community, public art that uh I m excited to see and to celebrate, um.
And I also wanted to share that the Shoreview Community Foundation with support from Shoreview s uh Shoreview s Park and Rec, uh, department is hosting an inaugural pickleball tournament and family fun day on SEPTEMBER 19th and um the fun day is free and open for everyone to come. It s going to be at Bobby Thson Park. Uh, from 9:00 A. M. To 4 P. M. And then there is a $35 registration, uh, cost for the pickleball tournament, uh, there s gonna be a beginners group and an advanced, uh, group for the tournament. So I was super excited for that inaugural event, uh, hosted by the Shoreview Community Foundation. Oh, and that date if I did, I share the date? If I didn t, it is, uh, on Saturday, SEPTEMBER 19. And again at Bobby Tyson Park. Thank you, ma am. Uh, council member Gardner. Uh, thank you, Mary. You know, I, uh, did not write down the things I was thinking about saying today, and my mind is now filled with the Hillview Business Park, uh, input that um I m gonna have to try to rely on my memory, but one I just want to thank, um, uh, all of our election judges, uh.
In our area for Expertly carrying out a primary election where a record number of ballots of 1.1 million. Balance or cast, that s a new record for Minnesota just for a primary, they were contested primaries on both sides. Uh, and as far as I know, everything is fine. The world hasn t fallen apart or anything like that, so I think that speaks to people of all political stripes who ve come out to be elected judges. Uh, and then I m just, I m. I got nothing. I, I, I should have written it down. Well, if you think of it, we ll, ok, just give me a high sign when we come back, ok, council member Maryland, I just had a couple of things I wanted to, um, uh, number one, think the neighbors from the Shamrock Park community for coming out and voicing their concerns. Um, I did attend the Arden Hills, um, development meeting that I believe was like JULY 15th or so.
And, um, you know, listen to the presentation and And saw the plans as well and heard from many of the people of the County Rhode I community, um, so I, I appreciate you coming here today and Um, sharing your concerns and, um, we, of course, share those concerns as well, so. Um, secondly, I wanted to just, uh, mention that, um, every year the, the pool shuts down, um, this year, it s going to shut down beginning on AUGUST 31st through SEPTEMBER 18th for its annual routine cleaning and maintenance. Um, they go through the locker room, the pool, of course, the whirlpool and all the things to make sure everything s safe and sound, um, for the rest of the year. So that will be happening soon. Um, In in the meantime, um, people can look ahead and sign up for swimming lessons, um, fall swimming lessons, um, start, um, in SEPTEMBER, so, um, taking a look at that, they start SEPTEMBER 22nd and run through DECEMBER 20th.
Um, I know a lot of them fill up quickly, but, um, there might be, um, be still some openings for either private or group lessons. That was it. Thank you. Councilor member Springhorn, um, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is the final council meeting of summer vacation season, uh, by the next time we meet on SEPTEMBER 8th, school will be back in session. And uh we ll We ll see a school buses making their, uh, their test runs through the neighborhood starting pretty soon here, and so, it is a good time just to, and we had a lot of comments tonight about um about safety, uh, for kids getting to school. And so obviously that my favorite elementary schooler in the city right now is, uh, in, that neighborhood and, uh, and does attend Pinewood, but, uh, but throughout the cities, we ve got kids trying to get to school alive and uh so just our annual reminder to watch out, uh, When you re driving, especially if you know, that there s kids on bikes and kids on foot and kids on scooters and everything else, and, and so, um, all over, we just wanna make sure we re being attentive and Keeping our eyes on the road and on the sidewalks as well, and Making sure that we keep the kids safe.
So Um, just that, and then the only other thing I did want to mention, uh, just have it on the record that both of the people who mentioned the flock cameras have, uh, have departed, but it is our understanding at this point that the sheriff s office does not currently have any flock cameras in Shoreview, which is not to say that they couldn t be installed at, at some point in the future, but, um, but a number of people have brought concerns about that to our attention, so it will be an ongoing conversation we ll have, i m sure, but at this point. Um, for whatever that s worth, there are no, no flat cameras currently installed in Shoreview. Thank you. Ok I ll say a few and then I ll turn towards Council member Gardner just in case. Uh, or I m good. Ok. All right, um, a couple of things, um, there was a lot of, uh, noise in the press or a lot of stories around some of the um.
Cybersecurity and water treatment plants and some in local communities like Maple Plain and one of the things that are, um, it department has done is gone back and we have, I think, a very strong it department that is constantly watching our, um, infrastructure a network, etc. Um, but they did do a follow up with our public works department after those incidents just to make sure that we were secure and, um, they feel as if we are. But I just thought I d let you know, cause I think they re a department that s kind of, you don t think about it until something like that hits a community, but our, and Renee Eisenweiss, our assistant city manager, uh, manages that department and they are constantly looking for ways to improve or verify that our security is good. So just wanted to mention that, um. We had our final concert in the Commons this year, and we did have 1200 people at that concert.
It was a Dolly Parton tribute concert, um, overall, our attendance was down a little bit this year, however, it had everything to do with the, um, some the fires and smoke and heat and that type of thing, but we had a couple of concerts, I think the abba one and this one that had a high number of attendees, so it still is a, I think, uh, you know, a great event or a number of events that. You offer offers to people, um, on Wednesday nights in the summer. Um, we had night to unite. I m sure there was someone up in your neighborhood for your party, but that was on, um, Tuesday, AUGUST 4th, and we actually had staff, so we go out with people from, um, city staff and try to get it to as many parties as we can. We had 67 across the city. So that is a great number of events, and I think shows how much people care about their neighborhoods and communities.
Um, so we had 8 teams that went out, and I know. I went out with, uh, city manager Brad Martins. We didn t quite make it to 8, but I think we got to 6, but they re enjoyable for staff as well. So anyway, and I find people are very welcoming in all the, you know, and, in all that events. Um, I did want to mention also that the Shoreview Community Center, the lower level parking lot is going to be impacted and i m looking, I think that starts on AUGUST 17th, correct? Is that right? So today? So, I just wanted to let you know, so if you re going down for the farmer s market or going to the community center, um, you ll notice that there s gonna be work going on, fewer parking spots for now, but what s going on there is we re expanding it a little bit to add some parking spots because we do run out at the farmer s market and, um, I m sure on busy, um, Days for the community center, it will be, uh, worked on until mid-SEPTEMBER, but again, it s to add more parking spaces and some utility and pavement work also to make sure for those new parking spots that we have security cameras and lights there, um, so that they re safe and I believe we re also putting in, um.
Additional ev chargers, 2 of them, I believe that would service 4 cars. So, um, just be patient by, by mid-SEPTEMBER it will be done, but it s for a good, a good reason. And then are also, um, for those that MAY have lost trees we do are still offering a tree sale for $50 for, um, one tree because we do have a bigger, oops, a bigger sale in spring, but if you are interested in a tree, um, there are a number of varieties you can see it in on the city website. They re $50 and um orders will be taken through AUGUST 25th, so. Just wanted to make people aware of that. Ok.
And, um, ok. And with that, council comments, um. We next have our consent agenda, and these are considered to be routine items, so we can enact them, um, with one motion. And, so there won t be a separate discussion of this unless somebody on the council wanted to pull one item out for consideration. Excuse me, so we have 14 items on the consent agenda for tonight, um, items 8a through 8n, and I ll look to council to see if there s any item you wanted to discuss. If not, I ll look for a motion. I don t want to rob. Our outgoing member of the chance to Make a motion on a the consent agenda, but I can do it. He s got a couple of months left. You look great. Uh, Mayor, I d like to, uh, move that we adopt a consent agenda items 8a through 8n. I will second. Ok, we have a motion by council member Gardner and a second by Council member Springhorn to approve items 8a through 8n of the consent agenda.
All in favor, please say aye. Aye, all opposed same sign, uh, motion passes 5 to 0, um. We do not have any public hearings tonight, um, nor, uh, no items of general business, which is kind of unusual, but it happens every so often. Um, I ll look to council to see if there s any special order of business.
And if not, uh, the next item is adjournment, and I would look for a motion to adjourn at 8:19 P. M. So moved. I ll 2. Ok, we have a motion by council member Jones, seconded by council member Maryland to adjourn tonight s meeting at, which is now 8:20 P. M. All in
